Learning debate helps one develop valuable skills including researching across various types of media, critical and analytical thinking, organizing and structuring thoughts, effective speech delivery, and confidence. Several high school students also agree that debate has been a valuable asset in Language Arts classes especially AP Language.
The Wall Street Journal reported that “State and national [debate] award winners have a 22% to 30% higher acceptance rate at top tier colleges and being captain of the debate team improved an applicant's chances by more than 60% compared with the rest of the pool.” Overall, debate helps one become a well-balanced individual in the school, work, intellectual, and government worlds.

“I think debating in high school and college is most valuable training whether for politics, the law, business, or for service on community committees such as the PTA.” -John F. Kennedy
